WATCH: Elijah Wood Crashes A Hobbit Themed Wedding In The Shire Exactly Where 'Lord Of The Rings' Was Filmed And Confirms He's One Of The Kindest Celebrities To Ever Step Foot In Hollywood
For any fans of The Shire out there, this blog is for you. Pretty incredible moment just happened yesterday in New Zealand with Frodo Baggins himself, Elijah Wood, randomly showing up to a wedding in Hobbiton and bringing a tear of sheer joy to everyones eye.
What a fucking guy!
Just an absolute mensch for pulling that off, and a true mellon to all. Not even sure what to compare this combo to either. Gotta be an all-time wedding moment ever right? Tying the knot IN The Shire with full regalia is certainly incredible enough on its own... But having the motherfucking RING BEARER show up for a handshake, a hug, & an earnest smile?
That shits got me tearing up right now. Honestly didn't know life could be that beautiful.
(New Zealand) - Lord of the Rings star Elijah Wood casually walked in and surprised a Rotorua-based couple at their Hobbit themed wedding. The 44-year-old actor, who played Frodo in the trilogy, was in the country for the Armageddon Expo over the weekend alongside co-star Andy Serkis, who played Gollum, when he made a stop at the Hobbiton movie set in Waikato. A longtime fan of Sir Peter Jackson's adaptation of J.R.R. Tolkien's books, Sharik Burgess-Stride told the Waikato Herald he couldn't believe his eyes when Wood appeared after he said his vows to wife Jessica (which also included references to The Lord of The Rings and The Hobbit movies).
Before making a swift exit, Wood took a few selfies with the celebrant and photographer. Photographer Cath Ullyett told RNZ she was so excited when she caught a glimpse of the actor, she almost forgot how to use her camera. While the couple were signing their wedding documents, Wood was escorted past the ceremony garden and stopped to watch, she said. “I instantly recognised Elijah Wood was amongst them and completely started freaking out, which is understandable,” Ullyett, who is also a long-time fan of the books and movies, said.
After taking a few snaps of the couple signing their wedding registry, she rushed to greet him and prodded him to come over.
“He didn't want to interrupt, but I just said to him, you know they'd love it, come and take some photos. He was very kind and gracious and stepped in for a few, and it was absolutely brilliant. “I think once everyone realised what was happening, there was so much cheering and everyone was just like bewildered by it all. “I mean, if you're going to have a wedding crasher at a Hobbiton wedding, who better than Elijah Wood? I mean, Frodo's at your wedding. That's just crazy.”
Sharik told the Waikato Herald he jokingly suggested Hobbiton as a wedding venue, but to his surprise, fiancé Jess was on board - without ever having been to the Waikato movie set herself. He had been five times and collected memorabilia.
Truly magical stuff. And if you're not impressed by this moment, kindly FUCK OFF to the anals of Morder and get chewed on by a goblin. It's still real to me damnit.
And as for Mr. Wood, it's just another example in a long line of moments where he's the most delightful human possible and so thoughtful with fans in a way that really makes a lasting impact. Gotta tip your cap for that purity and also for him being one of the few child actors to never lose his way and only get stronger as time goes on. You love to see it.
Also incredible to see The Fellowship still hangs out all the time whether it's conventions or random appearances. They gotta be one of the coolest groups on earth to get shit hammered with. Look no further than this video if you don't believe me.
And hopefully it all comes together for the whole cast to reunite for the rumored 'Gollum' movie. No idea how that works in the timeline but at this point, I don't give a hell. Get these boys back in the little vests & hairy feet. I wish for them to go on an adventure. And if not, I'll gladly agree to meet them at the tavern instead. That 2nd breakfast must hit SO hard after a Fellowship hangover. TAKE ME WITH YOU ELIJAH!
Elijah Wood was asked about ‘The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum’ "I've read [the script]. It's really good … The brain trust behind 'Lord of the Rings,' … they are heavily involved … and the same production designers. It is going to be shot in New Zealand … it's going to carry with it such continuity with so many people who are a part of 'Lord of the Rings' … It feels like getting that old machine up and running again with all of the right people"
PS: Shout out to The Pandemic for this Zoom call with the whole LOTR cast hanging out. What a crew.
PPS: still makes me sad we don't get shit like this from the MTV Movie Awards anymore.
