The Giants Have Fired Brian Daboll After Yet Another Lost Season
Awww come on guys, I wanted to see how Brian Daboll was going to top having the worst season in franchise history last year! I mean it's clear he had a theme to what the 2025 season was going to be remembered for based on this stat:
I guess the constant choke jobs, comical game mismanagement, and locker room crumbling forced the Giants to actually make a move in-season instead of hoping things would magically get better, which actually does seem to be the front office's strategy these days. But at some point you have to listen to the numbers since they never lie.
I know people wanted Daboll around so Jaxson Dart could continue to develop under him. However, I think the Giants realized that it will be hard to develop Dart if Daboll has him killed on a football field, which makes sense when you think about it. Mike Kafka can make a whole lot of fans if his first order of business is announcing Jameis will start over Russ if Jaxson Dart misses this week followed by telling Shane Bowen to take a long walk off a short pier. Kafka already has a fan in me after hearing about this years ago.
To be clear, this is only Step 1 in the right direction to making the Giants a proud franchise again. They need to completely gut the front office right down to the studs. It starts with moving on from Joe Schoen but has to continue with remodeling the entire antiquated system within the Giants franchise, which includes family members being in roles they are simply not good at.
If ownership wants to run the Giants as a family business, that's within their right and I'll have to live with it as a fan. But they simply cannot say that they are committed to winning if they don't make wholesale changes all the way down to the core.
