The Giants Announced That Joe Schoen Will Inexplicably Stay On As GM And Lead The Search For A New Head Coach
So this tweet went out announcing the news that Brian Daboll was fired as head coach. Nothing all that groundbreaking considering the Giants burn through head coaches like I burn through my kids' Halloween candy. In fact, I'm willing to bet that they just reused an old announcement they made about firing a coach then did a Find/Replace to change the names to Daboll and Kafka.
Anyway, the real story in that message wasn't the picture tweeted out. It was the link that gave a full breakdown of the story, which only football sickos like Steven Cheah read since they are pretty much the Apple Terms & Conditions you blindly accept whenever you update your iPhone.
Anyway, here is what was inside that link:
The New York Giants announced today that head coach Brian Daboll has been relieved of his duties.
Assistant head coach/offensive coordinator Mike Kafka will serve as interim head coach.
"We spoke this morning about the direction of our franchise on the field, and we have decided that, at this time, it is in our best interest to make a change at the head coaching position," president John Mara and chairman Steve Tisch said in a joint statement.
"The past few seasons have been nothing short of disappointing, and we have not met our expectations for this franchise. We understand the frustrations of our fans, and we will work to deliver a significantly improved product.
"We appreciate Coach Daboll for his contributions to our organization. We wish the Daboll family all the best in the future."
Joe Schoen remains in his position as general manager and will lead the search for a new head coach.
"We feel like Joe has assembled a good young nucleus of talent, and we look forward to its development," said Mara. "Unfortunately, the results over the past three years have not been what any of us want. We take full responsibility for those results and look forward to the kind of success our fans expect."
"These are difficult decisions, and John and I do not take them lightly," said Tisch, "but we feel like this is the right thing to do at this time and will allow us to move forward."
I'd be at a loss of words if I wasn't so completely sure that the Giants ownership are completely clueless how to run a competent franchise. Not just based on their actions this year but based on their actions over the last DECADE.
Joe Schoen should be charged with war crimes for what he has done to the Giants roster, not given another chance to hire another head coach. The way he has mismanaged the active roster at the kicker and receiver positions alone make him worthy of being given his walking papers with Brian Daboll, let alone the shallow roster depth that instantly gets exposed the minute an injury happens because so many of Schoen's draft picks from before this year have flopped.

I'm honestly at the point where I don't even know what to do. I came to grips with the Giants likely being a perennial loser team like the Jets and Browns as long as this ownership group is in charge and was at peace with it because I've seen my team with four Super Bowls in my life, with Super Bowl XLII almost definitely being the pinnacle of what I will experience as a sports fan. But the thing is I have a 7-year-old son that has become a diehard football fan and I can't stand seeing him get his guts ripped out by the Giants every year. Every week he gets excited about the Giants because he doesn't know the specifics of the matchup, and every week he watches them lose, usually in some sort of embarrassing fashion.
So I am just going to say this. If you are a Giants fan, you need to make your voice heard. You can fly a plane over MetLife with a message on the back of it. You can call the Giants offices at (201) 935-8111 option 3 for Community Services. You can send an angry hand-written letter to Mr. Mara (the Maras love when you call them that) at 1925 Giants Drive East Rutherford, NJ 07073. Let them know how angry you are because booing at the stadium and writing angry posts on social media don't do shit.
