For The Fourth Time In Five Years, Shohei Ohtani Is Unanimously Named MVP And You're A Fool If You Don't Think He's The Best Player We've Ever Seen
Truly don't know what to say about this guy anymore. This blog basically is an automatic writeup the 2nd week of November every year. If he's healthy and playing, Shohei Ohtnai is winning an MVP....unanimously.
Ohtani wrapped up another stellar season with a World Series ring followed by his 4th MVP, back-to-back this time. All 4 of Ohtani's MVP awards have been unanimous, incredible to think about that. If he wins, no one else is even deserving of a single first place vote. I'm pretty sure he's the only person who can claim that in baseball history, no one else has multiple unanimous wins and he's over here on his 4th. He's just that good every single year. 2nd most of all time too, Barry Bonds has 7 and honestly, that's not close to out of the question for Shohei.
How do you follow up a 50/50 year? Well a 2.87 ERA on the mound in 14 starts while actively rehabbing from Tommy John while slashing .282/.392/.622 with 55 homers, 102 RBI and a 1.014 OPS for the eventual World Series champs. If I've written it once, I've written it 1,000 times. He's the best and most talented player we've ever seen. No one else will ever do this, no one else will even come close, just look at what he did in the NLCS vs the Brewers. It's not happening, we're watching greatness in its prime.
It was almost a waste of time for Juan Soto and Kyle Schwarber to be there, I get it's a formality but let the guys go get some food or something. We knew he had the MVP wrapped up in August. Nearly every night he was hitting a homer to a place we've never seen, or he's doing something nobody has done since like 1945, he's the definition of "must-see TV".
Three straight seasons he's led the league in slugging and OPS, while still pitching when healthy. Just think about that for a second. It's just not normal what he does and I know the further into his career we get the more and more we're going to talk about what exactly we're seeing. Is it an overreaction to say that he's already made his $700 million contract worth it? 2 rings and 2 more MVPs 100% seems worth it. The hall of fame career was stamped a few years ago to be honest, the rest is just icing on the cake, and holy shit there is going to be a lot of icing. You'll never see a run like this by a player, the closest we're getting is in the other league with Aaron Judge and the insane things he's doing. But that doesn't really hold a candle to what Shohei has done on the mound and at the plate over his career, especially the last half decade. I'm drooling just thinking about the potentail number we could see from this guy as we go deeper into his career. He's the best we've ever seen, it's not really up for debate.
