New Dystopian App '2Wai' Allows You To Communicate With Dead Loved Ones in Something Literally Out of Black Mirror

Nope. Nope, nope, nope. Absolutely not.

It's difficult to find adjectives that would be sufficient to condemn this idea in the proper manner. "Evil" is probably the most succinct.

We have plenty of discourse about how screwed we are as a society due to an entire generation of children delegating the totality of their learning to ChatGPT, but even that pails in comparison to the awfulness of this. Why have grandma live on through your memories — as well as actual photos and videos from when she was alive — when you can turn her into an AI slop chatbot and completely desecrate her entire existence for eternity?

There is literally an episode of Black Mirror illustrating why this exact idea is terrible. For most of the video introducing the apparently real idea, I was sure it was some sort of parody or social commentary. But it's actually just a real app created by former C-list Disney Channel star Calum Worthy, who seems to have viewed Black Mirror as an instruction manual.

I just can't get over how horrific this idea is. "We're very sorry to hear your husband is dying of stage four brain cancer, but just take a quick video and upload it to our app, where you'll be able to talk to an AI bot mimicking his voice and likeness for $50 a month (for the first year)!"

We must wholly reject these ideas as a society and shame the people who peddle them. No more AI slop.
