5 Star Maryland Commit Baba Oladotun's Dad Wanted His Son To Go To Maryland Because It Would Mean Less Time Sitting In Traffic To See Him Play
Baba Oladotun's dad on separating Maryland & Georgetown: "you just find the one that we felt like, logistically, what's best for us? When you look at it, if I have to go to Georgetown, maybe 15, 20 minutes more. You multiply that by 365 days. That's about 7,000 minutes. That's about 120 hours. What can you do with that?...I’m very stingy when it comes to my time. I can drive 20 minutes to the game, get a good parking...I can go to campus and grab my two daughters and go have lunch and dinner. How long am I going to have that opportunity? I don't know"
Academics? Don't matter. Facilities? Dime a dozen. Coaching? Take it or leave it. Traffic? HELL FUCKING NO.
Yesterday, Maryland basketball landed Baba Oladotun, a 5 star prospect who chose to stay home and attend Maryland over Georgetown, Arkansas, and Kentucky. This is a HUGE get for the Terps, as Baba was the number 1 prospect before he reclassified. As someone who has been critical of Maryland athletics as a whole because I want us SO BADLY to be nationally relevant in hoops and football again, this has me rock hard like ya read about. Last year we got a good taste and reminder of what Maryland basketball should be, and now with that rat Willard gone and the man Buzz Williams at the helm, good things are happening.
It's too bad Mike Locksley is coming back on the football side because there's nothing better than when both sports are cooking with some serious, serious gas.
So thank god for what can only be described as the GREAT Route 1 traffic situation (nobody tell him). Saving 7,000 minutes a year is nothing to sneeze at. Thank you Mr. Oladotun for your dad logic. His hatred of traffic could change the men's basketball program for a generation.
