Hockey Fights Don't Get Much Better Than This AHL Tilt Between Tyrel Bauer and Yannick Turcotte Tossing Bombs For Over A Minute Straight

This. This right here is what makes hockey so special.

You want to talk about guys who leave it all out there? Guys who don't give a shit if this is just some random regular season matchup between a couple of division rivals. We're only like a quarter of the way through the season. None of these games have any major ramifications on the line. It's just another ordinary night where the Chicago Wolves are in town to take on the Manitoba Moose.

But for Yannick Turcotte of the Chicago Wolves, and Tyrel Bauer of the Manitoba Moose? They are willing to risk everything. They are willing to put it all on the line. Because the boys need a little bit of juice, and they want to set the tone. Yannick Turcotte isn't fighting so that he can get called up to make an NHL roster one day. He's 29-years-old, and he's been bumping around between the AHL and ECHL for the last 9 years of his life. He's fighting because he'll do anything to help his team get the W. He may not have the softest hands, but he sure as shit has some of the hardest.

Tyrel Bauer could get a call up to the Jets at some point in his career, but that's not the reason why he's dropping the mitts at center ice either. He's dropping the gloves and letting it rip because that's what Tyrel Bauer loves to do, and he's there to prove that he's the baddest man on the ice. Just look at these dudes go last season.

My favorite thing about this Bauer kid is that he doesn't give a shit about defense. He knows that the best defense in a fight is a ferocious offense. Sure, he might try his best to grip up his opponent's right shoulder. But at the end of the day, he's just letting those fists fly and praying he lands more than the other guy. Like he did in this fight last year against Alex Gallant.

He just chucks, and chucks, and then chucks some more. You can tell he's from Alberta from the moment you watch him fight. Tough as nails, all gas.

Meanwhile here in America, we have kids making millions of dollars playing college football who are willing to quit on their team in the middle of the season just because they might be able to get an extra car from the boosters at a different school next year. Thank god for hockey. And thank god for hockey players like Tyrel Bauer and Yannick Turcotte.
