Real Headline: The No. 1 Football Recruit in America Has Flipped His Commitment From Georgia to Vanderbilt

If ever there was a recruit to embody the new world of college football we're living in, it would be 5-star quarterback Jared Curtis, who has officially flipped his commitment from Georgia to Vanderbilt the day before National Signing Day. This recruitment had been trending this way for a while and now the Nashville Christian School QB will stay home and become the highest-ranked recruit in Vanderbilt history.

This kid had Nate Bargatze dedicating his entire College Gameday appearance to lobbying for him to flip to Vandy.

Personally, I obviously don't like this one bit. I just had to watch Diego Pavia run all over Tennessee in Neyland Stadium and now Vandy has one of the only two quarterbacks ranked ahead of the Vols' 2026 5-star commit Faizon Brandon — though Curits and Brandon squaring off could be scenes for the next few years.

What Lea has been able to put together at Vanderbilt is insanely impressive. Obviously Pavia has had a great deal to do with the Commodores' success this season, but getting Curtis is a sign this program might actually have some staying power in the new-age SEC, which is one of the most ridiculous statements I've ever had to make.

But this is college football now. If you have the right people in place who are willing to make the necessary investments, virtually any program can elevate itself. Five years ago, even joking that you were willing to flip from Georgia to Vanderbilt as a 5-star prospect would have gotten you a psychological evaluation and now it's not even all that shocking.

This sucks, though. I'm sure Jared Curtis is a great kid, but I will be rooting for him to play very poorly and ultimately transfer in disgrace to UTEP.

UPDATE: Curtis says the reports of his flip are not official.
