Huge News: Study Reveals That If You're Hyper-Sensitive To Loud Chewing Then You're Probably A Creative Genius

(HuffPo) — If the sound of someone chewing or slurping makes you want to crawl inside a hole, you may have a diagnosable condition called misophonia, or a heightened sensitivity to certain noises. While joining the unlucky 20 percent of people who have this condition may be irksome, there’s some good news associated with the disorder. Researchers from Northwestern University found that those who are hypersensitive to particular sounds tend to be more creative than those who are not. The study showed that the more affected people were by sounds, the higher the likelihood they’d score well on tests gauging creativity. The next time you’re seated next to a chicken noodle slurper, take a deep breath and give yourself a loving pat on the back. Creative geniuses don’t have it easy, but they can persevere through annoying mouth sounds.

This is big, everybody. This is very big. It means that I’m the most geniusy genius to ever live. Because I’ll guarantee you this: no one in the entire world hates hearing somebody chew more than me. Not a soul. If I hear a person chew then I may not eat for the rest of the day because it makes me so sick. When I die and go to hell, a foregone conclusion, I already know what it will be: I will be stuck in line at the supermarket, hungry, while the old lady in front of me writes a check and the woman from New Jersey behind me chews her gum. That will be my hell, I already know it.  I mean I hate chewing so much that I borderline have to put headphones on when Sales Guy eats lunch and we’re separated by walls. Because the sound of food consumption makes me so sick, when I eat I not only pretend my lips are sewn shut with glue, I also tightly cover my mouth with my hand, as a kidnapper would do, and let it serve as a sound barrier of sorts. I almost suffocate every single meal, but it’s worth it. I’d rather die than have someone hear me take a single bite. I know the pain and physical illness that causes and I wouldn’t force it upon anyone else.

I just wish they covered a few more of the sounds that are like nails on a chalkboard for me. Footsteps, cabinets closing, doors opening, faucets running, people talking, etc. What if you hate any and all noises that come with human interaction? Does that make me a super creative genius?
