Chandler Jones Traded To The Cardinals For Jonathan Cooper And A Second Round Pick
This just happened while we were filming the rundown so here’s a rapid, rapid, I’m not even going to research or re-read what I write blog:
1. We just spoke with Jonathan Cooper. He’s Caleb’s boy from UNC so we called him live from The Rundown. He answered and said he’ll call right back. That’s an exclusive. You heard Jonathan Cooper’s reaction to being traded to New England, “I’ll call you back,” on Barstoolsports.com first.
2. Jonathan Cooper is a great guy. Caleb told me that and he’s his best friend so, to be honest, I’m a little suspect about the source. Could be deceiving me.
3. The Patriots were absolutely in love with Jonathan Cooper before the 2013 Draft. Everyone was, as he went number 7 overall, but the Pats were especially. I don’t really know much else about an NFC West offensive lineman who’s started 11 games in two seasons so you’ll have to take that for what it’s worth: he’s a guy the Pats loved but who broke his leg year one and never really got it going after that. Sounds like a change of scenery could be what he needed.
4. We knew this was coming. This offseason the Pats had a lot of money to spend on defense. They need to extend Butler, Hightower and Collins so someone to go. The play of Sheard and the whole Jones OD’ing on synthetic weed thing made this an easy decision.
5. Chandler Jones follwed me on Twitter so I counted him as a friend. Please respect me as I go through this time of turmoil.
6. Welcome to New England, Chris Long?
