Sad Ben Affleck Put Simon & Garfunkel Back Up On The Billboard Chart

TIME- Simon & Garfunkel’s 1966 classic “The Sound of Silence” is climbing the rock charts thanks to an Internet meme poking fun of Ben Affleck, according to sales data. The meme in question is a YouTube video called “Sad Affleck,” which features the Batman v Superman actor giving an interview where he is read negative reviews of the film, afterwards Affleck stares off into the distance while the song plays. The song, which topped the Billboard Hot 100 for two weeks in 1966, debuted at No.6 on Billboard’s most recent Hot Rock Songs chart.

The internet is a weird fucking place. Imagine this. What if you had a time machine and went back  in time to 1966 and you told Simon & Garfunkel, “Hey guys, you know that song you just put out in the year 1966? Well 50 years from now in 2016, it’s gonna rise to #6 on the charts. Seeeeeeeeee ya!” and you don’t tell them why. No explanation. No nothing.  You could then give them unlimited guesses as to why their song would become a hit in 50 years and they would never even come close to guessing why. The reason why their song popped back up? Because the fucking internet happened. Because an interviewer told Ben Affleck that his Batman vs Superman movie was getting bad reviews, he died a little inside inside and somebody set that video to the music of Simon & Garfunkel. What I’m trying to say is that life is a trip.
