Buzzfeed Missed Their Earnings By A Zillion Dollars, Cut Earning Projections By A Zillion Dollars
VanityFair - BuzzFeed missed its revenue target by 32 percent in 2015, and has slashed its revenue projections for 2016 from $500 million to $250 million, the Financial Times reports. Initially known for its listicles and relatable GIFs, the youth-oriented media start-up has made a name for itself by dramatically scaling its audience (BuzzFeed had 181 million global unique visitors in the past month), investing in in-depth reporting, and expanding into video production.
Oh there’s a shock. The company that is built on nothing is starting to struggle. Hey quick, name 1 person who writes or works for Buzzfeed. Answer: You can’t. And that my friends is why that fraud company was always destined to fail. Plagiarism, algorithms, listicles are all fine and dandy but you can’t build empires on that. You need personalities. It doesn’t matter how much shit your throw at the wall if it’s all shit. You need people to care. Say whatever you want about Barstool Sports but all our fans have their favorite and least favorite personalities. They may hate us but they know our names and our shtick. We have real traffic. We have real fans. We don’t depend on flyby social media clicks. That’s how you build influence. That’s how you build real power. That my friends is how you sell tshirts. And that’s the Barstool difference.
