Wake Up With Paul Goldschmidt Hitting A 425-Foot Home Run

Paul Goldschmidt has hit 119 home runs in his major league career, and that was the first one that he hit on a 3-0 pitch. Previous to that home run, a 3-0 count was the only count that Goldschmidt had yet to homer in. In fact, Goldschmidt came into Monday night’s game having reached a 3-0 count 121 times in his career, and he’s ended up with a walk in 110 of those plate appearances. That would make a ton of sense as to why that fastball caught so much of the plate. The scouting report probably says, “Yeah, just throw one right down the plate on 3-0. Dude never swings.” Except for that one time that he does, and then he hits a 425-foot home run off of you. Put that in your scouting report for next time.
