Kevin Plawecki Chest Branded After Blocking Syndergaard's Pitch
Well, that will teach you not to wear your chain when catching the hardest throwing pitcher alive. Imagine if Papi or Yo took a Syndergaard pitch to the chest? Those guys would have a goddam mural imprinted on their chest.
Another start for Noah, another 7 innings. Another 8 Ks. He’s got 29Ks in 20 innings at the moment. Which is impressive enough, but where Syndergaard really blows you away (literally) is how hes doing it. Noah is straight up GASSING motherfuckers. Out of his three starts, the LOWEST average mph on his four seem fastball is 98.6. Lowest! Back in July of last year his four seemer was sitting at 96 mph. Almost 3 miles per hour faster this year. He hit 100 on the gun 18 times last night. His slider is only getting faster. In his first start, his slider was 92.1. 2nd start, 92.7, and in his third, 93.4. As the weather warms up, so is your boy Thor. And as he matures as a pitcher, he’s becoming more than just a fireball thrower. His z-contact% (Percentage of times a batter makes contact with the ball when swinging at pitches thrown inside the strike zone) has dropped from 85% to 77%. Thor is dropping the hammer on motherfuckers everywhere. Watching him now, I laugh about how just a few months ago we debated which one of these pitchers was the best.
That question has been answered, loud and clear.
