Video Emerges Of Draymond Green Attempting To Play Football At MSU
MLive (2011) – The 6-foot-7 Green, wearing No. 83 in the April scrimmage, played tight end for two plays. On the first, he was called for a false start. On the second, Andrew Maxwell’s pass flew over Green’s hands, but MSU defensive back Johnny Adams — eight inches shorter than Green — was called for pass interference.

“It would have been a touchdown if it wasn’t for pass interference,” Green said Saturday at LaMarr Woodley’s free football camp at Saginaw High.
“It’s never as easy as it looks,” Green said. “I thought I knew what I was doing, until I got jammed at the line of scrimmage. It’s not easy. It’s like basketball. It looks easy, but it’s not.”

Nobody on Earth happier than Warriors fans that Draymond decided to stick with hoop. Well, actually, maybe the MSU football team at the time was happier. But it’s at least a dead even tie at the top there.

It’s funny to read about Draymond back in 2011. Always loved his game and thought he’d be an important grinder for a good team – never imagined he’d be a top 10 player in the NBA.
Since the game, however, Green’s focus has returned to basketball, where he is entering his senior season with the Spartans. Green is one of 22 college basketball players invited to the USA Basketball Men’s World University Games training camp, July 29-Aug. 7. Coaches will pick 12 players to play for USA in the World University Games Aug. 13-23 in Shenzhen, China.
Meanwhile, Green is working out and playing basketball with his MSU teammates.
“We’ve had some open gyms and we’re looking good,” Green said. “The recruits can’t play with us until they’re officially on campus in the fall. We’ve got some good players. Our recruits are wings and forwards, not big guys. That’s OK with me. That’s all we need.
“I can play center. People say I’m a forward or a guard or I can play center or point. After you get past all that, I’m just a player. I just play basketball.”
Not football?
“I think,” Green said, “I like my future in basketball a little better.”
