After Cutting Victor Cruz, The Giants Followed It Up By Releasing Rashad Jennings

Look at Jerry Reese swinging his motherfucking sabre and cleaning up the offense. While Jennings handled his demotion like a pro this season, the Giants were probably looking for a better option than a guy with the patience of Le’Veon Bell but the acceleration of Ron Dayne (present day). I think Paul Perkins showed enough at the end of the year to have the Giants looking for a complement for behind Perkins instead of bringing in bigger names in free agency (plus potential cuts like Adrian Peterson or Doug Martin). Jennings was pretty much bleh for the Giants and I will probably forget his entire time with the team the second I hit “Publish” on this blog. A

Anyway, getting rid of two slow veterans was Phase I of the offseason plan, with figuring out how to improve the offensive line and making the decisions on JPP and Jonathan Hankins next. Those decisions are much tougher than waiving a couple of guys on the wrong side of 30 and next season’s success will likely be directly tied to those decisions. In Reese We Trust…right? I think we do again? I’m still not sure. But for what it’s worth, I cut both Cruz and Jennings after Year 1 of my Madden franchise and won the Super Bowl the next season (nbd). Take that for what it’s worth.
