The Knicks Are Releasing Brandon Jennings

We should have seen this coming when Phil Jackson’s right hand man had this to say about Jennings.

Okay I will fully admit that the Brandon Jennings era wasn’t exactly what I hoped it would be. Sure watching him and the Euro Boyz play some ball that can only be described as poetry in motion was nice. But to nobody’s surprise, Jennings was too erratic for the Knicks’ taste, didn’t fit in an archaic offensive system, and Jennings actually wanted to win. Let all free agents note that if you sign with the Knicks, they just may give you your release so you can latch on with a playoff team to get a ring. Try to ignore the roaring dumpster fire and the slew of NBA stars that have talked shit about our owner and team president. Signing with the Knicks is apparently like a subscription where you can cancel at any time. No long term commitments! Jennings must feel like he won the lottery leaving this shitbomb of a franchise.

Anyway, during times like this, I try to remember the good times of a player’s tenure. For Jennings there were a few clear highlights.

Like when he cryptically tweeted the Statue of Liberty and actually wasn’t bullshitting everyone because he signed with the Knicks that day.

Or when he announced his number with a Barstool-esque terrible Photoshop.

Or when he locked himself in as a fan favorite during the preseason by getting into a tizzy with Casper Ware and then letting everyone know he was in Ware’s head.

And all fans of the 90s Knicks appreciated Jennings yelling at Slick Willy for helping up an opponent.

Can’t forget about the time he called D’Angelo Russell a snitch on Twitter (even though he quickly deleted the tweet)

And while Brandon Jennings isn’t a perfect player, he did create a perfect Vine a few years ago.

On the bright side, Jennings’ release should open up minutes for this young budding superstar.
