Bill O'Reilly Laughing His Way To The Bank With TENS OF MILLIONS Of Dollars In Fox Payout Money

CNN“It is a staggering amount,” said a source personally involved in the exit maneuverings.

21st Century Fox and O’Reilly’s representatives will not acknowledge the existence of a payout. A confidentiality agreement limits what the two sides can say.

But two well-placed sources confirmed to CNNMoney that O’Reilly does have a parachute. That’s because O’Reilly signed a new contract right before being ousted.

The two sources, who spoke independently of one another, said the new contract was worth about $25 million per year.

LOVE all the people like celebrating and mocking and chirping Bill O’Reilly through this whole thing.

“BILL O’REILLY FIRED BILL O’REILLY IS OVER HIS LIFE IS RUINED HALLELUJAH!” Uhhh hey guys, he’s getting paid TENS OF MILLIONS of dollars to just not work anymore. Laughing all the way to the bank. He’s taking so much fuck you money from all this it would make your head spin. “Hey Bill you don’t have to work anymore but here’s tens of millions of dollars to go sit on a beach for the rest of your life.”

I don’t want to keep writing blogs about Bill O’Reilly but this really is an ICONIC transition in news television. O’Reilly is so iconic, so symbolic, and losing him — in this fashion — is a huge shift in the news landscape. A staggering amount of people get their info from cable news now and Billy O was cable news. Everyone’s throwing around “king of cable news” which is a corny but true tagline because he fucking DOMINATED for over a decade. Media has always had a liberal bias. It stems from liberal arts academia, which damn near all media professionals must go through, and creeps its way all the way up to the top. Fox famously and successfully countered that and O’Reilly’s been the most dominant face of that counter for a long, long, long time. There are of a course a never-ending amount of places from which to get your news nowadays, but for a long time, Fox was it for many people. And O’Reilly was Fox’s top dog.

This legitimately made me sad.

Obviously the guy’s turning out to be a bit of a scumbag. I don’t like scumbags and I have no respect for dudes that harass women and make them uncomfortable as hell because they’re in a more powerful position (or for any reason for that matter).

It’s the end of the era that I’m sad about.

Fuck sexual harasser O’Reilly, but I sure will miss “I’m a dickhead to everyone but I have a huge audience so deal with it and let’s do the news” O’Reilly.
