Blackhawks Officially Lose Trevor van Riemsdyk To Vegas In The Expansion Draft
After months of speculation the Blackhawks officially lose Trevor van Riemsdyk to Vegas in the expansion draft. Everyone kind of knew TVR was a goner because he was the only player worth taking from the Blackhawks exposed list. The Blackhawks lose a cheap and developing young defenseman for literally nothing. And that is the actual surprise. There has been a ton of reports that TVR was made available with the understanding that Vegas would also take Marcus Kruger and his $3M cap hit. Earlier today reports came out that the Kruger to LV deal was off. Perhaps its related to Hossa’s announcement, I don’t know. Kruger is still here, and TVR is gone.
For whatever reason, TVR was never appreciated the way he should have been in this town. The guy is steady as a rock. Seldom out of position, great in transition, makes a good first pass, and has contributed in all situations. It’s difficult to find guys like that, but it seemed like he was always destined to be a punching bag for fans and bloggers who don’t know what they’re looking at. He’s not a Norris guy, obviously, but TVR is a guy you can always trust out there and it sounds as if TVR is valued a great deal by Carolina because…
Everyone that’s cool is moving to North Carolina. Best of luck to TVR. If Carolina pulls that off…wow. They’re quietly putting together a SQUAD down there. And they’ve got money and assets to go after the likes of Duchene and Galchenyuk.
