Dave Meltzer talked again about Daniel Bryan today, and his determination to return to the ring. Basically, he said Bryan’s at 90% health wise and it’s very similar to Steve Austin’s final run. It’s looking like NJPW and CMLL are Bryan’s top two promotions he wants to work for.

My thoughts on this haven’t changed much since the last time I blogged it. It fucking sucks. I read Daniel’s book, and it ends on a really somber note when talking about the death of his father. He basically says wrestling made him miss the final half of his dad’s life, and if he was asked if the risk was worth the reward, he’d say no. BUT, wrestling is the one thing in his life he truly loves, so now he’s in too deep to ever stop. I’ve said it before, but he’s my favorite wrestler of all time, and I have no interest in seeing a final run. MAYBE one final match under the right circumstances, and maybe that opinion will change if he starts having ******1/4 classics and I get caught up in them, but I just can’t see it happening. After that heartfelt retirement speech, after he’s been the GM on SmackDown, just ride off into the sunset dude. Please. WWE will try to offer him a huge contract to just retire, and instead he’s either gonna go to New Japan where they have an extremely hard hitting style, or CMLL where the ring is stiffer than Ric Flair in a strip club. Gross joke, actually. I’m sorry guys.
