Dirk Koetter admits Bucs fans got cucked in 2015
Pro Football Talk- So why did Bucs coach Dirk Koetter urge fans not to sell tickets to Raiders fans as Tampa Bay prepared to host Oakland last year? Koetter knows what can go wrong when too many fans of the road team invade a stadium.
“The first year I was here, and we played a couple of those teams from the northeast, the traditional teams that travel well,” Koetter said on The Ira Kaufman Podcast, via JoeBucsFan.com. “I mean, we had to go to [the] silent count in our own home stadium, and that’s just not right.”
Bad look all around here. This isn’t the first time something like this has happened, though it’s the first time I can remember a coach admitting to it this far after the fact. I understand saying something in a post-game presser when the frustration is still fresh, but two years down the road is just asking for trouble. You could tell this was just eating him up inside. It’s like he stumbled across a video of his friend’s wife getting plowed by Lexington Steele and it’s all he’s thought about since. I mean, why else would anyone ever admit to getting cucked like that publicly? The fans Tampa Bay had in 2015 that Koetter is calling out are the exact same ones they have now. One 9-7 season ain’t changing that.
You know what makes fans not want to sell their seats on SeatGeek? Winning. The idea Koetter himself purports that certain franchises ‘travel well’ demonstrates this as well as anything. The Packers, Steelers, Cowboys, and Pats all qualify as one of those franchises and not so coincidentally they were by far the most successful teams of the 60’s, 70’s, 90’s, and 2000’s respectively. If you want fans to do anything with their seats other than pray they turn a profit every Sunday, try going to the playoffs sometime this decade. Until then, leave the cuck shaming to dudes on Reddit.
