In Impossible-To-Win Battles, Man Tries To Fight Through Anesthesia
It’s easy to knock this guy for thinking he was going to beat the anesthesia, but he put up a pretty damn good fight. At 3 minutes 40 seconds into the video, when he comes back to life saying “you thought I was gone,” I was pretty shocked. This guy must have taken the hook to Future’s “Mask Off” pretty literally, because it seems like all the Molly and Percocet has upped this man’s tolerance for pain medication.
The best character in the video is Dr. Nick chuckling to himself and cracking corny jokes the whole way. “22 people on the live stream? That’s more friends than I’ve got!” is the type of self-deprecating sense of humor that makes me think this dirty dentist is the life of any party. If he’s not whipping out the gas mask at get-togethers, then I don’t know this internet stranger like I think I do.
“I think we’ve, uh, done our job guys. Should we say something to the live stream?”
I was going to suggest that anesthesia was undefeated against humans, but a certain Reddit thread suggested that from time to time, anesthesia won’t work at all and people feel everything.
Some quotes from the thread:
I heard the medical blade saw turn on I felt the surgeon slice my back open, I felt every painful second. It was the most excruciating thing I’ve ever experienced. I’m so traumatized. The doctors gave me the max dose of every medication they could…I still can’t wrap my head around it…
WHAT THE FUCK??
I had radio frequency done on c-1 brain stem. I woke up while they were burning the nerve. I still don’t know who was cussing and screaming more… Me from the pain or the doctor at the anesthesias. I still have occasional flashbacks and dreams about it. 15 years ago. Im sorry you went through this. Hugs, blessing and light to you.
I think I’ve had enough. Fighting through anesthesia sounds badass, but it’s badass like jumping into a freezing cold pond or something, because once you get to your destination, you have nowhere to go and there’s a lot of pain.
Shoutout to all the anesthesiologists. It’s about time you got some praise. And it’s about time that we got a new tent-pole viral anesthesia video, considering that this kid:
Is on his way to college now.
