Lion Vs. Hippo Is Nate Vs. Francis
NatGeo- A lion curiously strolling through the savanna ended up paying with its life after it encountered a hippopotamus.
Video taken near the Maasai Mara wildlife reserve in Kenya caught a curious big cat with what at first seemed like a close call. While strolling through the tall grass of the savannah, the lion comes across a sleeping hippo. Likely curious about the motionless lump, the lion sniffs the rear end of the hippo, which startles it, causing it to jump to its feet and give chase to the lion, nudging the cat with its mouth.
While it may initially appear that the hippo grabs onto the cat’s head, Alexander notes that the lion is biting and hanging on to the hippo’s lip using its teeth and claws.
“If the hippo had actually grabbed the lion by the head, its unlikely that it would have survived,” explained Alexander.
I’m a big hippopotamus. My resting state is friendly. I mind my own business around these parts, eat vegetables and leaves, and love being in the water especially if I’m protected by a sun shirt. Nate is the lion in this video. He looks bored. Hasn’t stirred up any shit in a while, hasn’t been included in any controversies. You can almost see him thinking, “How long has it been since I was on the radio? Does Dave still know I work here? Hmm, might be time to light some fuses. Let’s see… where’s my next victim? Oh look, Francis the hippo is quietly minding his own business these days, getting along with people, hasn’t blown up in a while. Perfect. I’ll go poke the hippo and then walk away pretending like I did nothing wrong.”
Of course, I don’t respond well to being poked. I come back at the poker and try to rip their head off because that’s how I operate. You mess with the hippo, I’m going to unhinge my jaw and try to decapitate you. 0-60 like a Tesla. Full blow up. Sensitive to a fault. It doesn’t look good because the response is far worse than the instigation, but if everyone just left me alone, we’d all get along great.
If you come at the hippo, that’s fine. Just don’t be surprised when he reacts in ferocious, tempestuous fashion.
