The Teddy Bears In Calgary Were Raining Down From The Heavens To The Amount Of 24,605 Teddy Bears For Charity
Metro News - This weekend’s Calgary Hitmen game got un-bearably warm and fuzzy as the annual Teddy Bear Toss sent stuffed animals flying onto the ice. Since 1995, the yearly event has collected more than 300,000 stuffed animals for charity, with the help of 60 local agencies.
Fans traditionally throw the bears onto the ice after the first goal of the game, which was scored this year by defenceman Vladislav Yeryomenko in the first period against Moose Jaw Warriors.
“It’s an unforgettable moment,” Yeryomenko said in a Hitmen statement. “It’s possible it can only happen once in your life and it happened to me.”
And thus wraps up my favorite yearly tradition, the Teddy Bear Toss. I make sure to blog a few of them every year because they are freaking sweet to watch, and this year was no different. The Calgary Hitmen always do it bigger than any other team, this year collecting over 24,000 stuffed animals to send to local charities and hospitals. Watch this below angle, it’s amazing to see them rain down like fluffy locusts sent from above:

The never ending rain of teddy bears is incredible

And of course, delivering them to the children, which to be honest probably isn’t as much fun as scoring the goal and watching the bears rain, but let’s keep up the good vibes anyway
And another delightful Teddy Bear Toss season is in the book. I made it my 2018 new year’s resolution to be a part of one, so hopefully I’ll have some on the ice footage in about 360 days.
