Phillies Sign Alpha Ace Of A Male Jake Arrieta And Competitive Baseball In Philly Is (Almost) Back!

BE BOLD BITCHES. The city of Philadelphia finally is not only allowed to have, but keeps on attaining nice things. Love it.

So what does this mean? Well, for one, the Phillies are officially back from a full on fire sale of an organization to a team attempting to get back to the glory hole years. This combined with the Carlos Santana signing this offseason means they’re at least trying to establish themselves as playoff contenders again. And Arrieta stabilizes the front end of this pitching staff that desperately needs an identity. Jake and Nola are a SOLID 1-2 punch, but then you have your high hopes of inconsistency in Velasquez, Eickoff, and then God know’s what. Not to mention Jake can get it done with the stick, too, with 5 dingers in his last 3 years:

Arrieta won 22 games in ’15 with a nut slicing 1.77 ERA and 0.865 WHIP. Last year he went 14-10 with a 3.53 ERA and 1.218 WHIP, both of which were his highest since 2013. He obviously has not been as dominant since his historic Cy Young year in 2015, but he’s still an ace. Combine his talent with the leadership/beard he brings to the table for these youts, the Phillies just made one hell of a signing. They may not make the playoffs. Shit, even .500 is still going to be a worthy effort for this squad. But at least baseball is almost back in South Philly. Be bold, bitches.

Also, keep in mind just how much cash this team is ready to unload from the bank over the next few years. With so much money to spend, the Phillies could very well turn into a real life SCUBA:
