Blue Blood or New Blood? Florida State's Scottie Barnes Explains What Makes The Seminoles Different

On today's episode of the Barstool Bench Mob, we welcomed on Florida State freshman guard Scottie Barnes. The highest-rated recruit in Seminoles history was generous enough to take some time to speak with us regarding his FSU team, Coach Leonard Hamilton, why the unofficial emoji for FSU athletics is a sushi kebab, and much more. 

I also opened up the interview with a topic on the identity of Florida State basketball. The majority of this season in college hoops has been the chatter around the fact that the blue bloods are struggling. Duke, North Carolina, Kentucky, UCLA, Indiana, and Kansas have all had better seasons. As for the team residing in Tallahassee? They know they are not a blue blood. However, Barnes and the Seminoles are embracing that, which brings us to the term "New Blood."

We just emphasize the New Blood because we are just that team that is coming up. We're like a new sheriff in town. We're here and we want to make our presence felt." - Scottie Barnes

2020: 26-5, ACC Champions (NCAA Tournament Canceled)

2021: Currently 13-3 (9-2), first place in the ACC

The Seminoles are certainly a team that can make the Final Four, in addition to having a chance to cut down the nets in Indianapolis. And if they do that, Scottie Barnes will be a big reason why.
