Home Run Derby With ASU Head Coach Tracy "Skip" Smith

So last week Tommy Smokes had a blog casting each Barstool personality as a character in Game of Thrones. He had me as “the champion of Mereen who challenges Daario and immediately gets killed”. His reasoning was that I’m over confident in my abilities, always ready for a challenge, and immediately gets defeated.

As much as I hate to admit it…. it’s fair.

But let me make this loud and clear, ASU head coach Skip Smith challenged ME to the home run derby. Not the other way around. Sure I’ve put on 2 or 300 pounds since football started last fall, but swinging a baseball bat is like riding a bike. It’s muscle memory. Can’t all of a sudden just forget basic fundamentals. So I figured, why the hell not? Worst case scenario I get some half assed content out of it, best case I walk away with the starting bullpen catcher job and live the rest of my life on Mill Ave. in Tempe AZ. It’s really a win/win if you think about it.

Challenge accepted.

The only shitty part was that the wind was piping in like 100MPH. Even in the thin Arizona air, the farthest both of us hit the ball was only the warning track. WTP like you read about. My hands look slow as fuck in this video and it’s embarrassing.

Nevertheless, I begrudgingly gave him the win since he short hopped the fence and I two hopped it and because of that, I will now be an Arizona State baseball blogger for the remainder of their season.
