Beer League Heroes - New Year, New Me

If you’ve been following Beer League Heroes all season, you’ll know that our team has been playing about as well as Team USA at the World Cup of Hockey. We’re under .500 and our 5v5 Corsi differential is abysmal right now. Just kidding, we’re not a bunch of stat nerds. But we do actually suck. That part was true. With that being said, however, we took to the ice for the first time in 2017 and are looking to turn things around in the new year. We got that going with a 9-7 win on Tuesday night so we are now at least tied as one of the best Beer League Hockey teams in the world in 2017. Undefeated so far. No big deal but kind of a big deal.

As for yours truly, well there were some bad moments out there…

Name a defenseman who goes from leading the rush to backchecking his ass off quicker than I do. Go ahead. I’ll wait.

And then there were some horrible moments out there…

But it’s not about me. It’s about the 2 points in the standings. That’s all I care about. Doing what I can to make my teammates better and help my team get the W.

P.S. – big shoutout to Stoolie Eric for coming out to film on short notice after my regular camera guy got sick. That’s the downside to not working in a multi-million dollar office with an entire production crew on deck. But yeah, the kid may not know how to focus a shot but he knows how to show up to a 10:15 puck drop and press record. The best ability is availability.
