I Hate This Mosaic Artist So Much For Being A Good Guy And Fixing Chicago's Potholes
**This Blog Has Been Updated To Account For A Deleted Tweet From ABC After They Shared This Story On Their Timeline Earlier Today**
Alright it's actually a nice little story that we can all appreciate on it's face. Mosaic Artist spends the last 6 years fixing potholes around Chicago and making art. From there, people get a nice look at some cool shit on the ground while simultaneously lowering the chances your front left tire blows out on a Ravenswood side street. Blah blah blah. Good Samaritan stuff for the community. Everybody loves Jim.
Here's the problem though.
A. Nobody likes a tryhard. Plain and simple. Filling potholes is somebody else's responsibility and shouldering it yourself makes regular Joes uncomfortable. Would be a lot cooler if you underwhelmed with the rest of us.
2. I want to assume the City is secretly involved as a means to not have an actual pothole program. Like instead of a real program we just cut Jim $100 in CTA coin fare for each hole. Totally undercut him knowing the Artist in him can't say no to an opportunity to work with such a beautiful canvas. Or something. In the meantime, the local media gets a whiff of a nice neighborhood story that makes everyone feel all warm and cozy because we're pussies like that.
D. The verbiage. Pound for pound nobody uses more made up words than a modern, literal street artist
I like to juxtapose that universal hate with subject matter that everyone essentially loves. My name is Jim, I'm a street artist that does ancient technique, contemporary mosaics. My niche is pothole art.
My Turn:
I'd like to know what juxtapose means. My name is Carl and I'm a psychopath about my teams. My niche is Miller Lite.
