How To Be Yourself While Wearing A Mask To Prevent Coronavirus

Since I talk about the coronavirus almost every single day on Hard Factor, (click that link if you don't believe me), I figured I'd finally blog about it.

But I'm not here to talk about anything negative or fear monger on this blog. I'm sure there are still a lot of people out there that actually believe that this virus won't wipe out all mankind and that "I should be more worried about the flu." So I'll let them live in ignorant bliss. Most will also say this is only a problem in China. I totally agree with that, it is a huge problem there.  Also I wish everyone there the best possible health and hope and that they can avoid contracting the virus.  In fact I hope everyone everywhere stays safe from this mother fucker of a disease.

So you won't see me bringing up things like what the news is reporting is going on in Washington state in this blog.

And not a peep about the US deciding to bring home 380 people from the 'Diamond Princess' cruise ship on two different airplanes heading to two different states,(CA, TX) under the condition that they would all be screened and only flown home if they weren't showing any symptoms. Certainly I won't be mentioning that NPR is reporting that 14 of those passengers have now tested positive for coronavirus.

This is a positive vibes only blog where I will be discussing how you can look like yourself, literally, while wearing a surgical mask to protect you from the coronavirus that has now had two scientific name changes as cases have reached close to the 100,000 reported mark.

According to Metro, San Francisco-based artist Danielle Baskin has come up with a fun solution to two problems related to coronavirus.

1) how do I protect my face and mouth from coronavirus and still look good

2) how do I open my phone which requires or encourages facial recognition when I'm wearing a surgical mask

She’s come up with the idea for respirator masks which are compatible with a smartphone’s Face ID. Simply put, her software creates a custom print of an individual’s face and puts it on a mask. On Saturday, Danielle tweeted: ‘Made this service that prints your face on an N95 mask, so you can protect people from viral epidemics while still being able to unlock your phone.

Well this is fun and not weird at all.

However, it’s worth mentioning that no such masks exist as of yet, and it’s unclear whether they will ever actually be developed, or whether this is a total joke.

What the fuck Danielle is it a joke or not?

Apparently there is a waiting list but if you want one of these all you need to do is go to 'Resting Risk Face's' website and simply upload an image of your face to what appears to be a very secure website, pay $40, wait for the global shortage of surgical masks to end, and hope Danielle actually makes these.

Notes:

- no proof yet on whether these masks will work in terms of unlocking your phone's facial recognition technology

- N95 respirator masks don't work exceptionally well for people with beards or facial hair

- "even a properly fitted N95 respirator does not completely eliminate the risk of illness or death" - FDA
