Live EventDave Portnoy Greenlights The Next Big College Football Podcast | Barstool College Football Show Week 12Starting Soon

By The Common Man, For The Common Man

By the common man, for the common man. Something I've been thinking about the last few days with news of Coley taking over EIC, talk of old Barstool, the Dave Portnoy and Eddie podcast and everything that goes along with it. Why? Mostly because for the last 11 years, I've been a huge fan - a Stoolie - with the ability to write blogs for the last few years. Literally a dream come true, especially with how much time I spent on the website. I'm talking spending time reading Dave, Big Cat, KFC, Kmarko, Smitty, Mo, Nate, everyone from the old days to everyone currently blogging.

It's why I wanted to write to start a blog series like this. It's the beauty of this place. We get to say pretty much whatever we want and then defend it. It's literally one of the most common man things in the world. Most common man things in the world:

5. Having a go-to t-shirt for going out, wearing around the house, going to the gym, etc and calling it that shirt.

4. A cheeseburger and fries on a paper plate

3. Arguing about semantics regarding sports

2. Buying a case of Natty Light at a gas station with a tall boy on the side

1. Barstool Sports

See, we get to randomly put lists in for argument sake just to have it in the blog. I fucking love arguing. I love lists. I love being able to do that. It also got me thinking takes another hit that my favorite blogs to write and my favorite blogs to read is shit that comes out of nowhere. Yeah, the jokes reacting to news makes me laugh, but the off the head blogs like Large wrote about whip cream pulls me in every time. You don't even know the point of the blog when you start, but by the end you're nodding along and agreeing. It's the best.

Speaking of whip cream, all I've been thinking about since Large posted:

Hell, I don't even know what the entire point of this blog is besides wanting to blog about Barstool for a minute. That and talk about common men, which is what I like to think I am through and through. I live in Cincinnati, in a regular ass home, with a kid and a dog. I spent way too much time watching sports and scrolling the Internet. Nothing has spoken to me as much as Barstool always has and always will. It's because we get to blog how we talk. Do I care if my grammar is perfect? Nope. But it's how I sound and how I talk. It's why before I even worked here I felt like I 'knew' the original guys who I read for years.

The most common men in TV:

5. Alan Matthews

4. Jim Halpert

3. Frank Lambert from Step by Step

2. Sam Malone

1. Al Bundy

Truth be told, I've always loved blogging longer form stuff. It's not the norm, but it's the best way I can get all my thoughts out at one time, in one big rambling that goes all over the place. That's how my conversations are with my asshole friends and I consider every single one of you that interact with me through here my Internet friends.

As a dedicated blogger, I'm looking forward to see the focus on the blog again. It's where I live. I'm looking forward to blogging about hoops, soccer and whatever else comes up. But I'm also looking forward to reminding everyone about by the common man for the common man. It's who we all are at heart and what this company is at its heart. It's something I've thought a bunch about the last few days. A bunch of regular ass people giving takes and giving people a break to laugh or argue. It's why I listen to the Dog Walk snake drafts each week. It's why we have so many podcasts, shows, blogs, videos, etc. There's something for everyone and all conversations you'd have with your friends.

It's why I want to bring this back as a series. Common man shit. Common Man Wednesday's, where we get to do what we do best. Talk about nothing and argue about it all. We'll talk about common man activities, common men throughout history, everything that goes along with it, so submit any ideas you have to me on Twitter.

And in case you forgot, here's to the good times.

Viva.
