Craig Anderson Grinds His Way To 300 NHL Wins, Just The Sixth American Goalie To Do It
There was another big story out of that game in Buffalo last night. Craig Anderson, the Sabres 40-year-old goalie who has been playing pro hockey for 20 seasons, won his 300th NHL game and became just the 39th goalie to reach the mark and only the sixth American goalie to do so. Congrats to Andy. Great stuff to see if you're a NHL fan.
It's a huge accomplishment for a guy who has grinded out a pretty damn solid career and looked like he may have been all done after last season. But he signed the Buffalo Special ($750K) in July and made history in March. Anderson's career numbers: regular season 300-260-69, .913 save %, 2.84 GAA; playoffs 24-23 with a 2.36 and a .929. Anderson has the fourth-best playoff save percentage in NHL history.
We've seen a ton of milestones already this season and this latest one is a great testament to Anderson's perseverance. And he may very well end up on a contender playing for a Cup next month which would add yet another chapter to his long and winding career.
