I Terrified Barstool Employees While They Were Shooting Black Friday Ads
The only thing more disturbing in a cardboard box then my ghoulish frame is the one at the end of Seven.
Despite this prank making half of my co-workers nearly shit themselves, this was pretty fun to do. Cody on the social media team asked me a couple days earlier if I could help him with this. We tried a couple different boxes but eventually found one that I could fit in and pop out of.
Caroline was the only one who really suspected something when she came in the room. I was in the box covered in clothes and trying to hold my breath but I still heard her ask if this was a prank. Of course, she still was terrified when I jumped out of the box. I also have to give Nate credit for being the only one to finish the ad read even after I scared the hell out of him.
I can't lie. I loved doing this. It's everything I like: genuine reactions and collaboration. I was also really happy to see how every single person asked to do these ad reads was polite and patient before I jumped out. I was hiding in that box so if people were rolling their eyes, I obviously couldn't see that but I'd be shocked if that was the case. Every single person I spoke to over the past couple of weeks seemed really happy production and social people would be getting a bonus if we hit out merch goals. It was cool seeing everyone working together to try to make that happen.
I am also happy no one punched me.
That's a long and probably overly sentimental thought but it's a good reminder to ask you folks to check out the Barstool Store if you haven't already. The entire store is 20% this weekend. Go check it out and get some Christmas shopping done early and easily. Plus it helps guys like Cody out who are constantly thinking of content ideas like this one.
Here are the new arrivals:
Buy something or else you might just have a scrawny middle aged man jump out and scare you when you least expect it.
