Caleb Williams Allegedly Had To Review Film On His Own Because Offensive Coordinator Shane Waldron REFUSED To Coach Him
This came from a podcast by radio host out of Jacksonville. Not to discredit the report, but, ya know, the internet.
Given how inconceivably dysfunctional the Bears have been the past two years under Eberflus and his staff this story feels at least plausible. Fire an OC and bring in a new one to coach up your 1st overall rookie QB. Eberflus and the Bears brass interviewed many candidates and ultimately settled on Shane Waldron whose plan for Caleb was apparently to...not have one. Didn't cater the offensive scheme to his strengths at all per reports. Then when asked to coach...wouldn't. You'd think a plan for Caleb would've come up during the interview process and somehow Waldron designed an offense for like Kirk Cousins and then didn't believe in teaching said offense. Stunning that he got fired. Also designed a system that eliminated Cole Kmet from the game plan. Another odd move. Waldron and Eberflus, the worst to ever to do it. I am glad we are on to Ben Johnson. A new era. New coach, new offense, a new owner, and hopefully new success out of the quarterback position. Coaches who coach...actually important.
