Crazy Times Are Here: The Yankees Are Changing Their Facial Hair Policy And Allowing Well-Groomed Beards Moving Forward

The Yankees dropped news this morning that legit shook the sports world. The long-standing no beards policy is gone. 

They really saw Devin Williams without a beard and said nope, can't do this shit anymore. End the whole damn thing, let the beards grow. 

Is it crazy that this is big news in 2025? Yes, but also holy shit I never thought I'd live to see the day. When I saw the tweet I had a similar reaction that I did when the Luka trade happened. Who hacked the Yankees on Twitter? There's no way it was true that they were gonna start to allow beards, but here we are. 

I imagine most fans will be happy about this. Now your uncle? Maybe avoid his phone call today. At the end of the day, the whole clean shaven tradition was great when the Yankees pissed excellence and couldn't get out of bed without winning the World Series. When you haven't won since 2009 the stupid traditions don't hold as much water. You don't need to abide by a policy that started in the 70s just because. I also don't think any of the players liked shaving that frequently. Once the offseason hit they'd instantly grow out the facial hair like it was flipping a light switch. I'm not sure it ever got to the point where players spurned the team in free agency because of it, but if that ever was the case this thing had to be scrapped. Update: Hal basically said in his press conference this was the driving factor and something he got the sense could happen down the road.

Is it weird I'm excited to watch my guys have beards again? Probably, but Cole with a beard again will be awesome. Aura points skyrocketing. Not entirely sure I'm gonna like what Judge looks like, but hey this is gonna be a weird adjustment period for all. What a time to be alive. 

Now please go get a real third baseman.
