Is Arsenal The Biggest Disappointment In The Premier League?

If we didn’t have hope in sports, none of us would watch. That’s the beauty of it—every season brings the promise of a fresh start, a new beginning filled with endless possibilities. This year was supposed to be the year for Arsenal. But as I’ve come to realize, every year is supposed to be Arsenal’s year.

After back-to-back runner-up finishes, the Gunners were primed to take that final leap and finally lift the Premier League trophy for the first time in over two decades. The expectations were sky-high, the squad seemed poised, and the fans were ready to celebrate. And then, the season actually started.

What was meant to be a campaign filled with joy and triumph quickly spiraled into frustration and disappointment. Injuries piled up, costly red cards set the team back, and an overwhelming sense of bad luck seemed to hover over the Emirates like a dark cloud. It felt as though fate itself had decided that this simply wasn’t Arsenal’s year. But while misfortune played its part, the real blame lies elsewhere—within the front office.

I understand that injuries are part of the game. Every team deals with them. But when you’re a club as big and ambitious as Arsenal, injuries cannot be used as an excuse, especially when they expose a glaring issue that was never addressed. The lack of attacking depth was obvious from the start, yet the club spent the entire summer prioritizing defenders and midfielders while ignoring the one area that desperately needed reinforcements.

Why? I genuinely don’t know. And, quite frankly, it’s unforgivable. When a team has the resources and ambition of Arsenal, failing to strengthen key positions is nothing short of negligence. The people making these decisions—the ones responsible for building a squad capable of winning—must be held accountable.

Because at the end of the day, hope can only carry us so far. If Arsenal truly wants to reclaim its place at the top, it’s time for the club to stop making excuses and start making the right decisions.
