The Toronto Maple Leafs Are Never Beating The Allegations After The Ref Gave Them This Perfect Assist On Game Winning Goal

They're not even trying to hide it anymore. The NHL used to at least be a little shady when they'd do everything in their power to make games go Toronto's way. They used to make calls up in the war room where nobody can see them, and nobody actually knows what's happening. They used to just mess with the ping pong balls to make sure the Leafs ended up with the 1st overall pick in the draft lottery to get Auston Matthews.

But now we have the stripes out there just picking up primary assists in broad daylight to help the Leafs pick up a win against Colorado.

Heading into this season Kelly Sutherland had reffed over 1,500 career games. He's been a part of 10 Stanley Cup Finals. He's been in the league since 2000. He's one of the best in the business. He's not a guy who just makes mistakes out there.

He puts his body on the line, makes a perfect little touch pass to Steven Lorentz who buries it shorthanded. Toronto would hold on to win the game 2-1, and now they stay locked in to that ridiculous race to finish 1st in the Atlantic Division.

14-15 games left on the season and these 3 teams are all coming down to the wire. That first round matchup between 2 and 3 is going to be a bloodbath. As of right now, it looks like the Ottawa Senators have that top wildcard spot locked down pretty securely. If the Leafs are going to make it out of the first round and have any chance of going on an actual run here, you'd think they'd rather start off with the Senators playing their first playoff series since 2017.

Perfect work by Kelly Sutherland to help make it happen. Can't believe he wasn't named at least the 2nd star of the game.
