'They Hate Us' - Chris Richards Is One Step Away From Being Named Captain Of US Soccer After He Said What We All Know About CONCACAF

I'm not going to keep harping on the missed handball or Mexico flopping or how it took all of that for their A team to beat our C team. No, I'm going to talk about Chris Richards because 1) it's a fairly slow day and 2) I fucking love Chris Richards. He's the guy who won the Gold Cup if you want to do that sort of talk. He's a starter for this team, a lock if he's healthy at the World Cup and legit has a case to be captain of this team. It's what pissed me off even more last night hearing Alexi Lalas say he was 'so-so' on Richards coming into the Tournament. Richards was awesome at Crystal Palace this past season, anchored that defense, showed up for US and did the same. Oh, he also threw in two goals:

But this is also about CONCACAF and how Richards is right. They hate us. They don’t protect US players against the standard way CONCACAF teams play. They hack, they muck up the game, they flop. We also do dumb shit, like play this final in Houston when it should be anywhere else if we’re hosting. Put it in Cincinnati.

Richards is becoming a face of US soccer though. He’s a staple. He’s on the shortlist of possible captains and his play backs it up. I don’t even care about people claiming we’re being sore losers. Call out the bullshit
