Here’s a little secret…

I don’t usually listen to the people I am interviewing.

(not getting a word of this, Oscar)

That probably doesn’t surprise those who watch some of my interviews and have seen firsthand that blank stare as my eyes glaze over in boredom at the story being told by whatever celebrity, athlete, or musician I may be talking to.

Well, that wasn’t the case with Jim Lampley.

Jim came into our New York City HQ on Tuesday for a 15-minute interview highlighting his participation in this weekend‘s Tank Davis vs Lamont Roach fight.

A fight that will be airing everywhere but particularly on PPV.com, where Jim and a group of other boxing experts will be on a running chat during the fight to talk with fans about the absolute ass-whooping they are currently watching.

On top of that Jim has a new book that hits bookstores on April 15…

With all that being said, I sat down with a guy who I consider the greatest sportscaster of all time for the aforementioned 15-minute interview, and 57 minutes later, my producer made that universal sign of pointing to his watch to signal to me, “Hey fatso… You’ve been at this now for nearly an hour. Why don’t you wrap it the fuck up?”

So here is my interview with Jim Lampley, and in it, he talks about his adoration for Muhammad Ali, his participation in covering the Miracle On Ice during the 1980 Winter Olympics, and his relationship with just about every sport that’s ever been played. And I think And I hope that you will find it as fascinating as I have.
