Joe Girardi Has Balls (aka Testicles, Nutsack, Bag, etc.) The Size Of My Head

I have my thoughts but better to start with a perfect summary from twitter:

It certainly does. That's about as awkward as it gets for a manager. You're a huge name coming in, then you get let go quite literally as the team is about to explode. And then you're long time partner in the dugout is the one leading the charge and getting all this credit. But truthfully anyone around baseball knows that one manager can't have such a profound impact on the W/L column in such short turn around. It's not that simple. He's not calling plays and constantly making adjustments in game. It's a long slow painful grind. The impacts are felt long term. 

So to see things come together so quickly in the 2nd half had to be weird for Girardi. Difficult? Of course. But probably more eliciting of the "you gotta be fuckin kiddin me" variety. Soft chuckle. Slight grown. But mostly disbelief. 

And that's why I give Girardi a ton of credit for doing 45 minutes with us today. Right at a time when the whole world is pointing at him with misguided opinions and bad takes. Players that he loved and managed are at the pinnacle of the season and he's not there. That has to be so hard watching from afar but you'd never know talking to him. 

On that, really a pleasure to get all that inside-baseball stuff on the Phillies clubhouse and player dynamics. Rare to get that level of perspective as it can only come from a manager. Really good shit for any of you Phillies fans out there looking for an edge at the SportsBook.

Some other MLB stuff

- We did a stream last night for like 4 hours around the Padres and Dodgers game. Got a great effort from the chat in the process so thank you very much.
